Christmas as it used to be…

Cities again in Christmas fever – thousands of people celebrate the beginning of Advent.

In the last two years, the pre-Christmas Advent mood was rather dampened by the COVID-19 pandemic and its downstream effects – this year, however, the city centers are coming alive again in the run-up to Christmas and visitor behavior on the Advent weekends was record-breaking and in some cases even higher than in 2019. Anonymized mobile data provides information about people’s mobility behavior. With Location Insights, we are allowed to support the cities of Graz, Wels and Krems in evaluating their Christmas markets with key figures such as hourly visitor numbers and their socio-demographics, average length of stay, as well as the catchment area.

These insights give the city management, the economy and city marketing the possibility to monitor the actions taken, to compare them with historical data and to derive suitable measures for the future.
